About ME

The owner/operator, Chris Rowe, is a 22 year retired Navy Chief Petty Officer and Wood Working Program Director at Dare To Dream Ranch.

A veteran owned business, a portion of all sales and proceeds goes to help support programs for Veterans, Active Duty service members, and their family members offered at no cost to them by Dare To Dream Ranch through Equine Therapy and other complimentary alternative medicine therapy programs.

Falcon Wood & Laser Works History

Woodworking became a form of therapy for me several years ago while transitioning after retiring from active duty military life. Working with wood and creatively making things that starts with what only the mind can envision is a release not only for myself, but for what lives in the wood itself and longs for the hands willing to release it's living desires. Wood moves and breaths. I attempt to bring out the natural beauty of wood in my works to become functional art, to be used or simply to be visually enjoyed, often times keeping some aspect of its original state as a highlight. What some would consider defects often become vocal points. Branching out into other media came naturally to include wire wrapped jewelry of natural stones, semi-precious stones, and sea-glass.

Spirit animals are those that provide guidance to us in our lives. Hawk/falcon came to me in 2002 in Sturgis, ND when an American Kestrel (also called a Sparrow Hawk) landed on a branch only about ten feet away and introduced itself to me. Hawks have been messengers to me ever since. This is where the name Falcon Wood & Laser Works comes from.

About Dare to Dream Ranch, inc

In 2015 I found myself going through some major life changes and starting over again in several ways.  While sitting literally in the middle of a cheerleading competition I found myself with tears running down my cheeks as I read and learned about Dare To Dream Ranch and its focus on helping Vets struggling with starting over in life. Helping other Vets became another passion for me. Located at 12 Snagwood Road in Foster, Rhode Island, Dare to Dream Ranch is a holistic and alternative military retreat for service members, veterans, and their families. The programs they offer at no cost to the Veterans and families served include:

  • Equine therapy

  • Yoga

  • Reflexology/massage

  • Hypnotherapy

  • Group therapy

  • Horticulture therapy

  • Nutrition education

  • Healthy cooking

  • Exercise

  • Woodworking

  • Beekeeping

The programs are designed to help our service members, veterans, and their families with PTSD, anxiety, depression, military sexual trauma and mild traumatic brain injury to overcome their current situations, find their passion, and become successful civilians. But we also help struggling Vets with many ‘changing life direction’ issues when there seems to be no where else to turn, or when they haven’t fallen into certain categories where other organizations were able to help them. The Ranch also regularly supplies fresh food to the Homeless Vets Food Pantry at the VA Hospital in Providence.
